At 'The Laser Lounge', your safety is our number one priority, that’s why before any treatment can be carried out all new clients must attend an initial consultation. It is a legal requirement for all new clients to attend a consultation and to receive a patch test prior to any Laser/IPL hair removal treatment and/or IPL Skin Rejuvenation. The patch is there to ensure we can proceed with treatment safely, without any adverse reactions. The consultation is also a great time for you to ask any questions and to discuss your desired outcomes.
During your consultation appointment at our Newcastle-under-Lyme based clinic, you will be asked to fill in a consultation form and to state any medications you may be taking. The consultation form is there so we can assess your suitability for laser treatment and it allows our practitioners to assess whether it is safe to proceed without the risk of interference. If you are taking medication, it is always advised that you check with your GP first, to ensure it is safe for you to receive treatment.
As part of your consultation appointment we will need to assess your hair type, so that we can tailor the procedure specifically to you. Please arrive at your appointment with a small patch of hair, unshaven, so that we can accurately determine your hair type in the treatment area. A patch test will also need to be carried out during your consultation. For the patch test to be effective there must be hair in the follicle, therefore you must not pluck, tweeze, thread or use hair removal creams for at least 1-month prior.
Our practitioner will talk you through exactly what to expect during your treatment and how to prepare for it. Once the patch test has been performed, if there are no adverse reactions, you will need to wait 1 week, before booking in for your hair removal appointment.
It is very important that you arrive to your consultation WITHOUT any real or fake tan in the area to be treated. It is advised that you do not apply fake tan for at least 10-14 days prior to treatment and to avoid sun exposure and sun beds for at least 4 weeks beforehand. You must allow your skin to return back to it's natural colour before booking in for treatment. Please arrive to your consultation with the area clean and free from any deodorants, creams and SPF.
