At The Laser Lounge UK, your safety is our number one priority. That's why before starting any Laser Hair Removal treatment you must attend a consultation with one of our Laser practitioners, at our luxury clinic in Stoke-on-Trent, so we can ensure the treatment is suitable for you. During your Laser Hair Removal Consultation you can expect to:
✔ Complete Medical History & Skin Assessment
You will complete a short consultation form detailing your medical history and skincare routine.
✔ Receive a Patch Test
A small patch test will be conducted to determine your skin’s suitability and to customise laser settings for your skin & hair type.
✔ Discuss Pre-Treatment Guidelines
For your consultation we advise shaving a small test area 24 hours before your appointment, leaving the rest of the hair untouched so we can assess its colour, thickness, and growth pattern.
It is very important that you arrive to your Laser Hair Removal Consultation WITHOUT any real or fake tan in the area to be treated.
It is advised that you do not apply fake tan for at least 10-14 days prior to treatment and to avoid sun exposure and sun beds for at least 4 weeks beforehand. You must allow your skin to return back to it's natural colour before booking in for treatment.
For the consultation assessment, hair must be present in the follicle, therefore do no pluck, tweeze, thread or use hair removal creams for at least 1-month prior to treatment.
As part of your consultation appointment we will need to assess your hair type, so that we can tailor the procedure specifically to you. Please arrive at your appointment with a small patch of hair, unshaven, so that we can accurately determine your hair type in the treatment area.
Please arrive to your consultation with the area clean and free from any deodorants, creams and SPF.
Before starting Laser Hair Removal treatment we carry out a thorough consultation to ensure the treatment is safe and suitable for you. This allows us to tailor the procedure to your individual needs while minimising any potential risks.
During your consultation, you will be asked to complete a consultation form, which includes details of any medications you may be taking. This helps our practitioners assess your suitability for treatment and ensures there are no contraindications that could interfere with the process. If you are currently on any medication, we always recommend checking with your GP first to confirm that it is safe for you to proceed.
A patch test will also be performed to determine how your skin reacts to the laser. Our practitioner will guide you through what to expect and explain what to look out for over the next 48 hours. This step is essential to ensure your skin tolerates the treatment well.
Additionally, we will talk you through the entire Laser Hair Removal process, explaining what to expect during your sessions and how to prepare for the best results. Once your patch test has been completed, you will need to wait at least 48 hours before booking your first Laser Hair Removal appointment.
Please reach us at thelaserloungeuk@hotmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Our laser hair removal treatments, performed with are suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types 1 to 5. This means we can safely and effectively treat a wide range of skin tones, from very fair to darker complexions.
Treatment is only effective on hairs containing melanin (pigment), which includes light brown to black hair. Unfortunately we cannot treat red, blonde, or white hairs, as these lack the necessary pigment for the laser to target.
If you’re unsure whether your skin tone or hair colour is suitable, we recommend booking a consultation where we can assess your suitability in person and perform a patch test.
Some medications are contraindications for Laser / IPL treatment. During your consultation appointment we will ask you what medications you are taking so that we can check there is no interference. If your medication states that it increases your sensitivity to light we won't be able to perform treatment for at least 2 months, allowing time for the medication to leave the body. For safety, we always advise that you check with your GP before receiving treatment to ensure it is safe for you to proceed.
Due to Lynton's Advanced Technology our IPL treatments can be modified to suit each individual. No anaesthesia is required, however we do apply a cool gel to help maintain comfort. People often describe the sensation like the flick on an elastic band.
Immediately after treatment the area may feel warm and it may be slightly red and the follicles may appear swollen and raised, this is completely normal and usually subsides within a couple of hours.
Although very rare, there is a small chance that the area may burn or blister which can result in a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. To avoid such side effects we will always ask you to attend a consultation prior to treatment, so that we can perform a small patch test and assess your skins suitability for treatment. Once we have performed the patch test, we will ask you to monitor the area over 48 hours to check for any adverse side effects.
Patch tests are carried out to help us determine the most suitable parameters for treatment. Following a skin and hair analysis we will perform a small patch test on the treatment area to assess how well the light energy is absorbed and whether the skin responds as expected.
Following your patch test our Laser practitioner will ask you to make note of any redness or swelling and how long it takes to reduce. We will also ask you to report back if you get any skin blisters and if it feels excessively hot.
Although rare it is possible to obtain a burn from Laser/IPL treatment. Signs of a burn include the area been blistered or raised, a greyish discolouration to the skin, extreme discomfort, marking of the skin, redness and changes in pigmentation.
We advise that you take over-the-counter pain relief to help minimise discomfort. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol.
If the area has small blisters then no-dressing is required and it is best to expose to air. No lotions of creams are required. Do not break small blisters! If the blisters are large, seek medical attention!
If the burnt area is open and moist looking, or blisters have burst, then cover the area in a paraffin gauze dressing such as Jelonet. Alternatively you use a dry gauze with a layer of Vaseline. Change the dressing every 2-3 days.
Once the burn has dried and started to heal, massage moisturiser into the skin twice a day until completely healed. Newly healed skin can be sensitive to the sun to ensure the area is covered to prevent pigment changes and wear a high factor SPF (SPF50).
Most minor burns should heal within 1 - 2 weeks. Deeper burns may cause scars that are permanent. If you experience any side effects such as a fever or swelling then you should seek from a medical professional.
